Content Writing, Editing and Optimisation
Together with web design, graphic design and photography, I also offer content writing and editing as a complete web publishing solution.
Well written content, with good grammar and sentence construction, is vital for a website's credibility. All too often I see website content that reads poorly, comprising of comma spliced, run on sentences, dangling modifiers and ambiguous meanings.
As an experienced writer and web publisher, the content I write is naturally readable and of a good, modern, grammatical standard.
Content Editing and Writing
Businesses and other organisations often already have copy that has been written for other advertising media which could be edited for use as content for their website; if this is the case, I'd be happy to edit and optimise it for you. If, however, you don't have suitable material, I could compile, write and optimise quality content for your website.
Appointment based content writing:
In common with my web design service, I consider the best way to write and edit content is together, with you, via a series of appointments.
Remote content writing:
Alternatively, you can arrange a consultation appointment to discuss the required content for your site. During the meeting, I will take notes in order to later write your content remotely. Once I've returned home, I will do a costing and email a quotation to you; if you're happy, I will complete the writing, upload it to the relevant pages of your site, or supply it in the agreed form. (See Commissioned work below for payment terms.)
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
The following are all beneficial to successful search engine indexing and results placement: Well written and keyword rich title tags, meta descriptions and content; correctly coded headings, URLs, links, anchor text, menus and image alt tags; and a concise, semantic structure of your site. These are intrinsic principles of my web publishing.
I will not use black hat or spamming techniques that could temporarily "fool" the search engines into placing your site higher up the results pages. Such techniques only work for the short term until the search engines demerit or ban your site from their indexes altogether! What I will write is properly optimised content that reads naturally to visitors and will result in better long term indexing - I will not use keyword stuffing, hidden text nor other bad practices.
As mentioned above, you may already have well written copy that could be edited and optimised for the World Wide Web. When people use search engines, such as Google, they type in words and phrases and the sites with the highest ranking and best indexing for those search words will appear highest in the organic results. This is why content, that maybe perfectly good for printed media, will often benefit from optimisation to include mindful placement of the actual keywords people will use, whilst retaining natural readability and meaning.
XML Site Map
An XML site map is a document file that helps Google, Yahoo and other search engines to index sites that have lots of pages. If Required, I would be happy to create and include one to your site and write a robots.txt file to direct the search engine robots to it. I can also register your site with Google's webmaster tools service and submit the site map directly.
